Most estate wardrobes we receive hold a handful of pieces that matter and a rack that doesn't. The job is telling them apart before the donation truck arrives. It takes an afternoon and a look at the labels.

Sort by the label, not by the closet

Open each jacket and read the label inside the breast pocket. Brioni, Kiton, Isaia, Canali, Zegna, Oxxford, Purple Label, Tom Ford, Cucinelli and Attolini go in the box. The full list is on our brands page. Department store labels go to donation.

Some of the best suits carry a retailer's name and no maker. Our maker label guide shows who actually cut them.

What the tailoring brings

Used Kiton suits sell for $290 to $600. Brioni brings $185 to $295. Zegna brings $70 to $190. Every house is on our price table, built from our own sales.

Size works in the estate's favor. Across our suit sales, a 46 and up brought a median of $150. A 40 to 42 brought $100. A suit with the tags still on brought $190.

The shoes and the tie drawer

The shoe rack is often the best money in the closet. John Lobb sells for $240 to $450 across 46 pairs. Edward Green brings $295 to $445. Alden brings $135 to $260. Keep the shoe trees in them.

Hermès ties sell for $50 to $85; we have sold 131. A drawer of thirty is worth the afternoon.

Condition decides the rest

We see the same faults again and again. Moth holes, iron shine on the seat, worn elbows, frayed collars, lining stains. A piece with them sells for little, or not at all. You choose at the start whether those come back to you or go to donation. Nothing is thrown out without your say.

One box, or ten

No minimum and no maximum. We have handled single suits and full executive wardrobes across many boxes. Keep each box under 35 pounds and under 24 by 24 by 24 inches. Bag the clothes in plastic before they go in.

We send a prepaid FedEx label for each box. Drop it at any FedEx location, anywhere in the country.

Records for the estate

Every item, its status and its sale price is in the consignor portal. Settlements go out monthly, around the 10th business day, by Zelle or check. If the family wants to hold one piece above a price, name the figure before we list it and we hold it there.

Our commission is 30% of the first $500 of each sale and 15% of anything above. eBay's own fee on each sale passes through at cost.

Request a prepaid label. Exceptional clothing shouldn't sit idle.
