Used Edward Green shoes sell for $295 to $445 through us. John Lobb sells for $240 to $450. Both hold their money better than most of the tailoring they were worn with.

The English makers lead

Edward Green and John Lobb hold the two highest floors on the table. Buyers know the lasts by name and buy to a known fit. A pair of Lobbs in the right size and width sells. Edward Green rests on 15 pairs, so treat its range as a guide; Lobb, at 46 pairs, is firmer.

Alden sells steadily

Alden brings $135 to $260 across 63 pairs. Shell cordovan pairs sell for more than calf, by a clear margin in our records.

Ferragamo sells in volume

We have sold 73 pairs of Ferragamo, more than any other maker on the table. They bring $80 to $190. Gucci loafers bring $190 to $350.

What the buyer looks at

The soles, the heels and the creasing across the vamp. A shoe resoled by a good cobbler sells. A shoe worn through to the welt does not. Keep the shoe trees in them, and send the dust bags if you still have them.

Not sure who made the pair in front of you? The sole nail pattern tells you. Our sole pattern guide covers thirteen of them.

Selling them

Our commission is 30% of the first $500 of each sale and 15% of anything above. eBay's own fee on each sale passes through at cost. Shoes ship in the same box as everything else, on our prepaid FedEx label.
